Can anyone recommend a particular L-N MODEL?
I saw DON W's post on the old site and he said the Small Block Plane was great ( I assume that is the 12 degree model?). I appreciate all feedback!

Once you get one, it becomes a Pavlovian mechanism that makes you reach for it no matter what you're doing....they are THAT nice...

Don,

When building, what are you using this plane for? Which processes? Would it be a good one for brace shaving, or is it too big?

Click here for the handiest little plane on the planet for brace shaving, bottom of the page....

A friend sent me one that belonged to her Dad. Kunz plane, mine doesn't have the squirrel tail, but that looks interesting and probably very comfy.

Thanks Bruce, I have one of those... Somogyi turned me on to them. Very inexpensive but does a wonderful job. I was just thinking of treating myself to a Lie-Nelsen but they have so many models and they are too expensive to just buy a couple to experiment.

Bruce I have one of those Kunz planes too...the one with the handle off the back. It's a great little plane for the money...
I bought it, and as I usually do, took it home and flattened and polished the sole and sharpened the iron. It's a very sweet little plane. I think one of the best buys out there for a small plane.

Don, I agree, the little Kunz given to me quickly became my favorite for brace sides. Spruce cuts easily with the grain, and a sharp little Kunz makes short work of shaping for sure.

I recently bought the L-N 102 12* block plane. The performance is as awesome as its looks. I have several small planes which I have fastidiously lapped perfectly flat to a miror finish and razor sharpened the blades. They work quite well...but NOTHING like this plane right out of the box. I'm absolutely sold on their quality. I just love working with planes and I will definitely purchase a big boy L-N one of these days.
